UZH Accessible: Implementation and monitoring

Status quo

University of Zurich is committed to the inclusion and barrier-free participation of its members with disabilities and chronic illnesses. In light of the increased societal expectations for accessible universities in recent years, as well as the legal requirements that must be implemented, UZH has set itself the goal of significantly improving the accessibility of its structures and services and has launched the strategic project UZH Accessible for this purpose.
UZH Accessible

Therefore, action plans for the systematic removal of barriers were developed in collaboration with UZH students and staff with and without disabilities, numerous internal units, and external bodies.

Sub-projects

The measures are assigned to three sub-projects (SP) and address various aspects of accessibility:

  • SP1 Structural accessibility (implementation in phases until 2041)
  • SP2 Technological accessibility (e-accessibility and teaching materials, implementation until 2030)
  • SP3 Cultural and organizational accessibility (implementation until 2030)

Monitoring

Progress is evaluated annually in German. The first Implementation Report covers the period from July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025.
