Social Background

The EDI Office addresses matters related to an individual’s social background as part of its service mandate. It bases its efforts on UZH’s Diversity Policy, which states that “UZH is committed to a culture of truly practiced diversity. UZH staff and students treat each other with esteem, respect, and open-mindedness regardless of age, disability, gender, gender identity, origin, religion, sexual orientation, social or occupational position, or language.” However, hurdles to accessing higher education and pursuing an academic career still exist for individuals from certain social backgrounds. The EDI Office provides information and advice about this issue.
