As of January 2026, the University of Zurich (UZH) will become a member of the Allianz Digitale Inklusion Schweiz (ADIS). The Executive Board of the University approved the membership in August 2025. Along with several colleges, UZH will thus be the first university to join this alliance of government agencies, businesses, associations, educational and research institutions, advocating for a just and inclusive digital society.

Amir Sahi, head of the ADIS office, says that the Allianz Digitale Inklusion Schweiz (ADIS) brings together key stakeholders from civil society, business, administration, education, and research. He sees the membership of UZH as a strong sign of shared responsibility for digital inclusion and a pioneering role that will have a significant impact.

Over 20 percent of the Swiss population is excluded from digital participation due to low levels of digital skills. Furthermore, a lack of technical accessibility and assistive devices particularly hinders people with disabilities from accessing information and services. ADIS sees itself as a collaboration and expertise platform that addresses current topics in digital inclusion through expert groups, aiming to contribute to digital accessibility for all. Therefore, ADIS connects stakeholders, analyzes current technologies and processes, defines principles for digital inclusion, supports implementation, and provides access to knowledge and best practices.

As a member, UZH not only wants to benefit from these activities but also actively contribute to the discussion on digital accessibility and, for example, help develop new standards based on scientific findings. Daniele Corciulo, the contact person for digital accessibility, will represent the UZH in the alliance and participate in expert groups and events.
