Encouraging progress towards Inclusion and Accessibility

During the first reporting period (July 1 to December 31, 2025), the University of Zurich made steady progress in implementing the action plans for all three sub-projects of the strategic project «UZH Accessible». Numerous projects have already been successfully completed or initiated. No significant obstacles or structural barriers to implementation were reported for any of the sub-projects.

The implementation process and the action plans are very broadly supported, and I am sure we are heading in the right direction. We are also in constant communication with those affected.

This represents significant progress for the UZH on its path to becoming an inclusion-sensitive and more accessible university. This positive development was also recognized by the Commission for Disability Inclusion. The commission, which also includes people with disabilities, discussed the report in March 2026 and adopted it unanimously. It acknowledged the progress achieved in the first reporting period as encouraging and reaffirmed the importance of the chosen path.

In April 2026, the Executive Board of the University also adopted the report. Furthermore, it underscored its commitment to an inclusive university culture with two further groundbreaking decisions: joining the «Digital Inclusion Alliance Switzerland» (ADIS) and the global initiative «Hidden Disabilities Sunflower». With these decisions, UZH strengthens its commitment to both digital accessibility and raising awareness and supporting people with invisible disabilities.

The monitoring is published online annually in German and is available for download.
