Farewell to Dr. phil. Elisabeth Maurer Lutz
Elisabeth Maurer, the former UZH Women’s Representative, died on May 4, 2025.
A farewell ceremony was held on July 5, 2025, in the Aula of the University of Zurich to honor former Women's Representative Elisabeth Maurer. From 1996 to 2015, she headed the UniFrauenstelle and later the Office for Gender Equality.
In addition to a welcoming address by Prof. Dr. Gabriele Siegert (Deputy President and Vice President Education and Student Affairs), three other former and current UZH members honored Elisabeth Maurer's work at UZH: Prof. Dr. Susanna Bliggenstorfer (Stab Prorektorat Lehre und Forschung 1988–2000), Prof. Dr. iur. utr. Brigitte Tag (President of the Gender Equality Commission 2008–2014), and Dr. Karin Gilland Lutz (Head of the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) Office).
In three speeches, they traced Elisabeth Maurer's work, from the beginnings of equal opportunity work with the UniFrauenstelle, through its professionalization, to the impact her work has left on UZH to this day.You can read all three speeches in full in German in the linked PDF.

Other parts of the program were presented by Ms. Maurer's sister, Dr. Anka Diederichs-Maurer, Dr. Christoph Wittmer (Präsident der Museumsgesellschaft), and musical interludes by Viviane Chassot.
